The Tampon Incident
Sebastian sat on the floor of Lily’s room, flipping through a magazine she had tossed aside earlier. Adam was sitting on the bed, half-distracted on his phone, while Lily rummaged through her dresser.
“Hey, what’s this?” Sebastian suddenly asked, holding up a small wrapped object he had found under Lily’s bed. It was bright pink and rectangular.
Lily turned around and instantly groaned. “Oh my God, put that down.”
Adam looked up, took one glance, and immediately started laughing. “Dude. No way.”
Sebastian blinked, looking between them. “What? What is it?”
Lily pinched the bridge of her nose. “It’s a tampon, Sab.”
Sebastian frowned. “A what?”
Adam wheezed. “Oh, this is amazing.”
Lily glared at him before turning back to Sebastian. “It’s for periods.”
Sebastian tilted his head. “Periods?”
Lily’s face twitched. “Please don’t make me explain this.”
Adam, still laughing, sat up. “Wait, wait. Do you seriously not know what a period is?”
Sebastian shifted uncomfortably. “I mean, I kinda do? My mom just called it ‘a lady thing’ and said I didn’t need to worry about it.”
Lily threw her hands up. “Oh, for fu—okay. Basic rundown: once a month, girls bleed, and it sucks.”
