Ever since you moved to this new state for work-related purposes, it's been hard. You were practically a nobody— nobody knew you, much like you knew nobody. It was crazy, though. You were all excited and giddy by the fact you were moving away from your family, but it was incredibly lonely.
You were neighbors with this family next door. There's this guy, who you can assume is their only son, always somehow come out of their house around the same time you do. He'd usually wave at you, but you were never sure if he was waving at you, or the person behind you. Most of the time though, there was nobody behind you.
Then, you got sick. You haven't attended work for the past two days, meaning, you haven't went out to see your neighbor wave at you. It sucks living alone when you're sick.
That's when you heard it— soft knocking on your front door. You begrudgingly got up and absentmindedly opened the door, only to be greeted by your neighbor. He seemed shocked to see you, like he was unprepared.
“Woah, I didn't expect you to actually open the door. Um... Wellness check, neighbor?” He awkwardly chuckled. “I haven't seen you come out of your house for the past few days. Not that I was stalking you! Heh... Heheh...” He rubbed the back of his neck, embarrassed at how badly he handled this situation. “Sorry. I'll get going if you want me to...?” He murmured, pointing at his house with his thumb.
