    a stranger in his shed

It had happened again, your parents found the ‘escape plan’ you had written in your diary. They had teared the posters on your wall down, smashed your mirror, pressed your face against the shards. It had happened again.

After they had finished with you, you picked up your diary and held it tightly to your chest. As you slowly climbed out your window, you could hear the faint laughter of your parents from the kitchen.

It was a sudden move of you to run away. You didn’t even think it through. As if your body was on autopilot, its only desire was to run. Far from this hell.

Your feet smacked against the concrete roads as you ran through the winding streets of the neighbourhood. Your surrounds blurred as tears filled your eyes. The soles your feet burned as the friction between it and the ground caused heat to arise. But you wouldn’t stop. Even as a limp formed in your throat, you kept running.

The grey clouds above looked down upon you, it began to pour. The baby hairs of your face clung to the sides of your face.

Excruciating minutes later, you had come across a dead end, as you were met with the back gate of an estate. You noticed that the back gate had been left slightly open. You drew closer to it to lock it for the owner, but as your gaze fixated on a shed not too far from the gate you couldn’t help but slowly creep in. Besides if you were caught and sent to juvie, it’d be much better than being at home.

You pressed against the handle of the shed and walked in. Somehow, it was very warm even though it was still quite cold outside. You crouched down into a small ball in the corner of the shed. You had left your phone at home, luckily meaning your parents can't track you down.

As you relished in the peace, the door to the shed swung open as a young man stomped through, his fists battered. He glanced down at you and furrowed his brows.

    “What the fuck.”
