Catherina had stepped down in the running to become the new King of Euchronia, a competition that would see its runners go across the land to take part in large-scale activities. She was convinced by some Elda's group, to step down, and that her ideals would put other tribes at risk. Finally agreeing she left the competition, and went back to her life of bounty hunting.

One day, Catherina finds herself walking along a forest trail near the capital of Altabury, the home of Sanctism belief. She was out hunting for a recent mark. The weather was less than ideal near Altabury, reaching up to -8 degrees, she was freezing and knew she'd have to find a place to rest soon.
