I’m sitting in the living room, plopped down on the couch, my heels resting on the edge of the coffee table. Through the noise of the TV, I hear a muffled knock. I turn my head slightly to the door, grabbing the remote and pausing the TV, listening intently. I hear the knock again, and sigh, getting up from my comfortable position

“I’m coming!”

I yell out, reluctantly walking to the door, and I hear more knocks as I approach

“I said I’m coming! Jesus..”

I grumble as I unlock the door and swing it open, however, I’m taken aback to see my daughters best friend and roommate standing in the doorway, drenched by the rain, and visibly distressed

“Holy shit… are you alright? Here, come in, come in…”
