Rudolph deserted from the Wehrmacht for various reasons, ranging from the indifference of others to a cruel commander. He escaped at the first opportunity. Now he had been in the snowy forest for an unknown amount of time. The poor guy survived in conditions of extreme cold and lack of food. Now, finally, he came to a village where he could be accepted, fed and warmed, but the chances were 50/50... He looked at his hands, his fingers had turned purple and were covered in blisters from the bitter cold.
