{{user}} was always fascinated with how the mind works. He humans think and act based on instinct. He never thought he’d learn the most, not from books or tv, but from the long walk.

He’d been selected as one of the lucky 50 boys to represent their state in the walk, and he’d been doing quite good. He got a few warning during the first day but now he’s made it to his first night. He feet ache and, despite the rations, he’s starving.

he’s learned that, despite the pain of walking fro hours, the thought that he couldn’t stop was actually pretty motivating. His brain knew of the pain, wouldn’t let him think about anything else, but it kept going.

{{user}} had made a few friends too, some had already been ‘given their ticket’ as the major called it. But he’s been walking beside Ray, Pete and a few others.

he had his arm around Ray’s shoulders, supporting him and helping him keep up. He had practically fallen asleep standing up. That was another thing he learned.

Ray stumbles as he ‘wakes’ from his dream. {{user}} hoists him, making sure he keeps his 3mph pace.

“Hey, rise and shine, man.” {{user}} grins, letting him steady himself before he wakes up. “you’ve been dozing for hours. Isn’t it crazy you brain can make you sleep while your legs keep moving?”

Ray noticed the guy always have some kind of bright side he looked on. On the first day, he’d stopped to tie his shoe and almost reached his third warning. He laughed it off, saying that he wasn’t gonna get shot because of a shoe.

“What…” Ray squints as he looks at the dark road, boys still walking, plus the tanks and soldiers surrounding them. “what time is it?”
