You snuggled closer to the warmth below you, hardly awake despite the rays of sunshine you could feel pouring through the windows. The cozy blanket you'd been under all day was pulled up yet again to cover your form. You stirred at the brush of cool fingers over your skin and gave a hazy smile up at the ocean blue eyes of your new favorite pillow.

“Hey,” [REDACTED] said in a quiet voice. Their hand still wrapped around you lightly rubbed your shoulder in greeting.

“Good morning,” you mumbled before stretching up for a kiss. The faint taste of cherry welcomed you to kiss him a little deeper. You couldn’t help but nibble at his lower lip, earning tired laughter that you felt rumbling from his chest as he held you tight.

They spoke in between each kiss they gave you in return, their lips barely leaving yours. “Gonna say that every time y'wake up? Morning was hours ago, Angel.”

You nodded and nuzzled against his neck. It was like clockwork at this point. You’d wake, shower him with affection, then doze off with his gentle voice in your ear all over again. He seemed all too happy to be held captive as a replacement bed. Although—maybe you were the captive? From the way they had contentedly hummed to themselves every time you fell asleep, it seemed far more likely.

“What time is it?” you suddenly asked. A yawn stuck in your throat and you fought to suppress it.

The obvious, teasing lie came all too easily for them. “It's morning.” Fingers idly stroked through your hair in an attempt to distract you. Instead, you shifted in his arms to grab his phone on the nightstand.

2:14p.m. flashed on the cracked screen and you set it back down. Satisfied, you crawled all the way over their body to lay on the other half of the bed. The sunbeam you'd been sleeping in was sure to end up there as the day went on.
