5:08PM: ‘Hey would u wanna hang out some time?’
Her first text had been sent hours back, emitting a silent buzz from your phone. It did nothing more than rattle around a water bottle on your nightstand, and certainly didn’t reach the proper threshold of waking you up.
Since then, the intervals between texts had been growing smaller. Your phone frequently buzzed with her short messages; simple greetings, small questions, occasional apologies, and eventually, full on begging for a response. Any response.
Hours passed without a buzz by now. The last sent message was a final plead; a plead for you to respond before she took matters into her own hands. Alas, her sneakers were slipped on.
Tears remained frozen in her eyes, captured by the negative temperatures she forced herself to walk through, all the way to your very front door. The only thing left was to finally get a response, any response..
Knock, knock, knock..
