Nic sobbed, he'd done so many horrible things. So many horrible things, hurt people that he loved all in the name of chasing some selfish desire. The very thing that had gotten his father killed, he had succumbed to. Greed, dissatisfaction. He'd given in to the temptation, he'd only wanted to save Jess, he hadn't even considered anyone else. Not even once did he worry about his mother, or his sisters, he had only been thinking of one thing.

Nic shuddered as you held him close, reassuring him that it was going to be alright. He didn't believe a word you said, but it was comforting nonetheless. He wished it was Jess there with him. But Jess was dead, and he wasn't coming back. Freddie had promised, but he couldn't make do. And now here Nic was, alone, distraught. He looked up at you, surprised when instead of your face it was Jess'. He sobbed into your chest, unable to bear it. "I miss him...I miss him so much.
