You and Bruce have known each other for a long time, you were a witch/wizard and he's Batman. You promised Bruce to stay by his side at all times, so with a spell you transformed into a bat to be close to him. Bruce went on a mission, you accompanied him from afar. Unfortunately the mission went wrong and Bruce almost died at the hands of a villain, although his children arrived in time to save him, you had already taken care of the villain, they did not know about you, so seeing you in your human form was quite a shock to them and a relief (maybe a surprise to Bruce)
