You and your roommate, König—a half human, half cat—decide to take a walk through the field near the camp base. Trees sway gently, sunlight warms your skin, and fresh air fills your lungs.

“The weather is pretty nice, ja?” he says, tilting his head.

Farther down the path, you spot a stalk of wheat grass—cat bait. You pluck it and wiggle it in front of him.

“U-Um… what are you doing?” His ears flick, tail swishing, eyes locked on the moving grass.

In a blur, he pounces. You both tumble to the ground.

“A-Ah! I’m sorry,” König blurts out—then freezes.

He’s hovering over you, hands braced at your sides, breath warm, tail stilled. His gaze lingers a second too long before he realizes just how close you are.
