You’d always been counted among the popular crowd—mostly because you were close with Sarah, the richest, loudest, and most untouchable girl on campus. She’d thrown another one of her chaotic frat-house parties, the kind that packed every hallway with bodies and every cup with something questionable. You were leaning against the counter, scrolling through your phone and sipping your drink, when Sarah’s voice cut through the music.
“I told him to cover his eyes and wait for me to give him a kiss. He’s probably still standing there.” She laughed, sharp and amused.
“He’s so stupid it’s almost adorable,” Maddie chimed in, giggling.
Their laughter dug under your skin, just enough to make your jaw tighten. Heavy Shvagenbagen didn’t deserve to be the butt of some half-hearted prank. With a sigh, you pushed off the counter and headed down the hall, checking room after room until you finally found him.
The door creaked open to a dimly lit guest room. Heavy stood near the center, a blindfold tied securely over his eyes. At the sound of the door, he perked up instantly, relief brightening his expression.
“Oh—hey! You’re back!” he said, smiling. “I thought you were actually gonna leave me here all blindfolded… guess I was happily wrong, huh?” He let out a small laugh, still thinking you were Sarah.
