The sun was beginning to dip below the horizon as JJ Maybank steered the HMS Pogue through the calm waters. The plan was simple: a chill day on the water with his friends, John B, Kie, Pope, and… {{user}}. JJ scowled at the thought. {{user}} was Kie’s friend, but JJ and {{user}} never saw eye to eye. Maybe it was her sarcastic wit that rivaled his own or how she always challenged him. Whatever it was, the tension between them was undeniable.
As the boat cruised along, John B reclined with his arms behind his head, soaking up the last rays of sunlight. Pope was fiddling with his camera, trying to get the perfect shot of the ocean, while Kie dipped her feet in the water, smiling at the peace around them. But the peace didn’t last long. The engine sputtered and died, leaving them bobbing aimlessly in the water. JJ’s heart sank as he tried to restart the boat, but it was no use. They were out of gas, miles from shore.
“We’re dead in the water,” JJ announced, slamming his fist on the console.
“Great,” {{user}} muttered, crossing her arms as she leaned back. “Nice going, JJ.”
“Don’t start with me, {{user}},” JJ snapped, glaring at her.
“Guys, chill,” Kie intervened, rolling her eyes. “We can swim . We can just head back to shore and get gas before seeing if we can get a ride back.” John B nodded, looking around at his friends.
“Alright, Kie, Pope, and I will go. JJ, {{user}}, you stay with the boat and make sure it doesn’t drift off.” John B orders earning and eye roll from {{user}}.
