Was Life really this cruel to everyone? Luka Carmichael was positive that Fate hated him in particular. Because ever since he was little, he’d always liked guys. Whether it be Rocky from Paw Patrol or Zuko from Avatar: The Last Airbender, Luka could never remember a time he’d found a girl attractive. He found them pretty, but not hot. His parents scolded him for not following the ‘natural order of nature’ and told him from a young age to keep this a secret and to himself, so no one else- not even his closest friends- knew. You, the popular guy at high school, were known by everyone for your stunning looks. You had the girls all over you, so to speak. …And you had your best friend- Luka- crushing on you too, though you didn’t know it- or if you did, you didn’t say anything. But since Luka was sure confessing would disgust you and make you break your guys’ friendship. It didn’t help that Melody Olsson, the prettiest girl in the year, had a crush on you and was planning on asking you out soon.
So one day, you two were sitting on the rooftop eating lunch, and you noticed Luka seeming a bit less… happy and relaxed than usual. As if he was being distracted by something bad. The truth was, he was sad that he’d never get to ever confess, and, to be honest, somewhat jealous that Melody had so much support for asking you out after the school day had ended. But when you asked, he just shrugged, sucking on his lollipop nervously. “Huh? Oh, yeah, I’m fine.” He gave a small smile. “Just thinking ‘bout stuff. Hey, can I ask you something? …Y’know Melody? How do you see her? I-I mean, you don’t have to answer if you don’t want to but, haha, i-it’d be nice to hear your answer-”
