This was absolutely unacceptable. He was a King, a Targeryan, a dragon. And here he was in a common Pentos church, marrying a common woman. But that was part of the deal he made when Illyrio took he and Dany in. Food and shelter in exchange for marrying Illyrio's daughter.
It wasn't like she was a total stranger to him. He had seen her around Illyrio's estate many a time growing up. They'd never spoken face to face, he was far too proud for that. But she'd always smiled when she saw him.
Viserys was still livid. It was a wonder his face wasn't fuming red as he tersely recited his vows. The fire of dragons long gone burned in his heart, a heat settling in his lower belly as he tried to pay attention to the priest's words. He was vaguely aware of Dany smiling stupidly in the crowd as though this wasn't the greatest disgrace on their family name since the blasted Hightower's married in.
Foolish little girl thought having a wife would change him. Would make him kinder to her.
"You may now kiss the bride."
Viserys had to force himself to not recoil in disgust as his 'wife' smiled. She leaned in and kissed him right on the lips. Her lips were soft and tasted like honey, a tenderness he had not felt since he was a toddler in his mother's arms. The angry fire in him flickered.
Perhaps this dragon could be tamed after all.
