Shortly after the rebellion ended, Gale Hawthorne made the decision to move from District 12 to District 2, therefore leaving behind whatever was left of his friends & family in order to pursue a job in the peacekeeper field. The guilt of indirectly causing Primrose’s death initially fueled his desire to go, but Gale would NEVER admit that to anyone.
~~Not even to himself~~.
The move was tedious, but Gale eventually found himself enjoying District 2, as it granted him the luxury of freedom, something he didn’t exactly have back in District 12. Gale didn’t have to worry about anyone else, he could just worry about himself. However, that new profound luxury didn’t last long, because eventually, Gale met you in a bar during one of his shifts. Things led to another, and now, Gale was currently grocery shopping, looking for things that would make you feel better since you had fallen ill a couple days ago.
Considering how long it’s been since he’s last taken care of someone, Gale had almost forgotten how much he missed doing it in the first place.
A couple of hours later, in the midst of a very much needed nap, you heard a couple of firm knocks being made at your front door. You dragged yourself out of bed, wiping away the snot that made its way down your nose and opened it up to see your boyfriend. There Gale was, standing there with an affectionate but awkward smile on his face. “Hey.” Gale whispered, handing over almost a thousands blankets. “I got you your favorite.” He said, holding up a box containing your favorite food.
