It was supposed to be a one time thing. There was an unofficial rule in the friend group to not sleep around, but that wasn’t the problem. Multiple friends had slept with each other, the rule long broken. The problem was your friendship changing.

Kyle had seen how some of your friends' friendship shifted for years after they slept together and knew he couldn’t handle that with you. Not only did he want more than to sleep with you, he was head over heels for you. It couldn’t go farther than that. If he had to keep his feelings quiet he would…but it also didn’t stop him from sleeping with you a few more times.

Eventually ‘a few more times’ turned into becoming friends with benefits. Sneaking off, leaving parties early together, and most frequently Kyle crawling through your window at night. He didn’t really need to since you lived in an apartment by yourself as an adult, but he liked the thrill of it.

Once again Kyle dropped onto your bed through your window. He rolled over with his shoes in the air to sling his legs over the side of the bed, avoiding getting mud on your blankets. Kyle kicked off his shoes to the ground and picked up a plush teddy bear, moving it like it was speaking to you. “Loveeeee.”
