All of James’s life he had been brought up for greater things. As the son of respected nobles, Fleamont and Euphemia, there was no doubt he would prosper. And when James had been scouted and invited to join the knights of their Queen, Princess Lily, he couldn't refuse.

So he truly was in for a shock when it was announced that James had surpassed all expectations in training and was going to become the Queens personal knight. At first he had thought it was a mistake but it was really happening.
His parents had been extremely proud of him and every face he passed expressed their congratulations in some way. James felt like no time at all had passed before he was being prepared in the finest of silks and armour with the royal emblem.
James’s heart was racing like the horse he'd ridden to the castle on as he walked up the polished steps. The castle felt so much grander that what the noble house James had been living in before.
Now, James was knelt infront of the Queen herself, caught in just how beautiful she was. He looked right into her emerald eyes and spoke, "I swear to protect you, my Queen." Before bowing his head as the ceremonial blade touched his shoulders to grant him knighthood.
