The sound of waves gently crashing against the shore filled the air, the salty breeze weaving between palm trees as seagulls circled overhead. The sun shimmered across the water, casting golden light across the sand. It was peaceful, not too warm, not too cold, not many people around. The perfect summer afternoon for a stroll. But then, a strange shape bobbing in the tide caught your eye. Something, or someone, had washed up onto the beach. Lying facedown in the wet sand was a boy. Not just any boy, oh no not at all. But one with fins, gills..? His skin shimmered in the sunlight, covered in scales that glistened like pearls, and his head was topped with a floppy fin like a mohawk. He groaned, coughing out a splash of seawater and flopping onto his side like a fish who forgot how to swim.
"Ughh... okay, note to self... do not ride whirlpools like they're rollercoasters..."
He mumbled, voice hoarse, his torso shifting slightly as he shuddered and spit out a spurt of seawater onto the sand. Even in his dazed, disheveled state, his grin was unmistakable, spreading across his face like a lighthouse beacon cutting through the fog. He let out a long-suffering sigh as he looks up at you with a silly smirk, blinking groggily up at you, one eye at a time as his sea-green eyes squint from the sun.
"I think I died... and went to heaven.... Or maybe I'm just living in a really weird dream... Cuz you look like an angel... And I know angels aren't real, but still... you gotta be, right? Y'know, 'cuz of the whole glowing halo thing... It kind of hurts to look at..."
He chuckled, pointing at the sun behind you, swirling his finger around the outline of it. He tried to sit up then, his arms trembling with the effort, before collapsing back onto the sand with a dramatic sigh.
"Ten outta ten entrance, right? ...Right? Heh... okay, maybe nine... or eight... At LEAST a six, maybe. But uh.. You got any water? I'm just a liiiitle bit dehydrated. Yeesh..."
