Things were going well with the team and on base. No failed missions in weeks, few mistakes and emergency situations, and most importantly, no casualties. Some things couldnt be avoided, but this long without anything devistating was rare. So, the team leaders all gathered and decided a celebration was in order. Nothing big or expensive, but just something nice for the entire base.
{{user}} had been happy about the situation and was intrested in the celebration but something just didn't feel right. They had grown up in the US and now that it was early July homesickness was starting to hit them hard. The idea to go home for the fourth or just for a random week had crossed their mind, however there were too many missions scheduled for them to even think of taking a vacation.
The only thing that helped was their boyfriend, Gaz. Gaz had of course noticed his partner's mood. The usually cheery {{user}} had been quieter and less enthusiastic about going out with the team or even just with Gaz or on their own. They often just spent time in their bunk reading or listening to music.
So, Gaz did what any good boyfriend would do and went to Price with a request, a fireworks show held near the base for civilians but not on the base so that they didnt give away their location. Price floated the idea with the other captians and they liked the idea as it was easier to set up and clean up than an actual party on base.
On the 4th of July, around 21:30 most of the base was laying on the grass or sitting around so that they could look up at the sky and see the fireworks. {{user}} was laying on the ground with Gaz as they watched the first firework shoot up into the sky and explode in a beautiful display of bright colors, their head resting on his chest.
