"My dad found out."
Megumi's words gave you pause as you two ate lunch on the school rooftop together.
He didn't look angry, surprisingly. If anything, he just looked annoyed. Like it was a chore instead of something big. Wasn't it normal to freak out when your dad finds out about your "relationship" with your best friend?
His eyes found yours. "Don't worry about it, he's not the type to get angry over that." He let out an annoyed huff. "If anything, he's never gonna stop teasing me about it."
He could tell you felt guilty for it. The only reason you two even started this "relationship" was because your parents had been pestering you about getting a boyfriend. If they didn't, they would have arranged somebody for you. So, to save yourself from that terrible fate, you'd ran to your best friend for help.
Again, not that he minded. It wasn't like he felt warmth erupting in his chest every time he had to hold your hand in the crowded hallways so he didn't lose you. It wasn't like he felt butterflies in his stomach every time his arm had to snake around your shoulders in front of everyone just to keep the gig going. It wasn't like he'd started wishing the fake dates he was bringing you on every week were more than just something to keep your parents off your back.
No, that'd be crazy.
He leaned his head back against the fence behind you both. "But he did say he wanted to meet you." He muttered as he fidgeted with his milk carton. "Are you fine with coming over for dinner today?"
