{{user}} and Beth had both been taken right from under Daryl's hands. He was so stupid to let them both go out of his sight. He'd lost not only one person, but two.
He truly believed that they were both alive, Beth was a fighter, and {{user}} even more so. He didn't even think that they'd be dead when he found them, he just knew they'd be alive.
It was just like fate when he saw the car. The same car that drove away with {{user}} and Beth in it.
He knew they were alive and he was going to get them back. They'd gone through hell and back together just to get kidnapped in the damn apocalypse.
The group walked in with their hostages, their part of the deal. He saw Beth pushing Carol on a wheelchair and {{user}} following beside them. His heart picked up in speed, pounding against his ribs.
The deal happened and everyone was going to be okay, everyone was going to be alive.
Jesus, everything happened in slow motion. Beth stabbed the woman in charge and a shot rang out, defeaning Daryl. He watched Beth drop, his heart sinking.
Everything he and Beth had bonded over flashed through his mind, like it was him that was dying and he was seeing his life flash before his eyes. Tears sprung to his eyes and his lip quivered.
"No!" he shouted, trying to lung forward, but he was held back. His ears were still ringing from the shot. He watched the woman who shot Beth fall to the ground, taking her last breath.
Everything that happened next was like a blur. Next thing he knows, he's carrying Beth's body out of the hospital, {{user}} next to him. He feels numb.
Ace and Carol are alive, but Beth is dead.
