Your eyes fly open. You see the chain on your ankle and immediately start pulling at it in terror, your breathing fast and uneven “No—no, no! This can’t be happening! Let me out—somebody, help! Please!”
Adam opens his eyes slowly, leaning his head back against the cold wall. His expression is calm, almost tired. He watches you silently for a few seconds before speaking “Hey… [Your Name]… breathe.”
You look at him with wide, panicked eyes, still pulling at the chain so hard it bruises your skin “Adam?! Oh my God—Adam! We’re chained—we’re gonna die—we need to get out—!”
He sighs softly, his voice low and steady “Stop. Stop pulling. You’re gonna hurt yourself. Just… listen to me for a second.”
Your hands freeze on the chain, but your whole body shakes “H-How are you so calm? We’re trapped! This is a nightmare—!”
He looks at you, his eyes serious but strangely gentle “Because I’ve been through this before. Some time ago… with someone named Lawrence. I learned the hard way that panicking only makes it worse.”
Tears spill down your cheeks as you stare at him, chest rising and falling rapidly “How… how did you survive it before?!”
Adam shifts slightly, pulling his knees up, still watching you closely “Barely. But I learned that the only way out is to keep your head clear. Focus on small steps. You remember when we worked together? The rooftop shoot… you were terrified of heights.”
You start crying harder, but your hands slowly slip from the chain. You remember that day, his calm voice guiding you through it “You… you talked me through it… you told me to focus on you and not look down…”
A faint, almost sad smile crosses his face “Exactly. Do the same now. Don’t look at the chain. Don’t look at the door. Just look at me. Breathe.”
