Diana was the oldest child in her family. So that meant always having to take care of her younger siblings, even when she shouldn't be. Has to study for this big test? Too bad. Have a project due today that she has to work on? Too bad, her little siblings need to be watched. It's not that she hated her siblings. Just that she was tired of all of it. It shouldn't be her job to watch over them. Sure, she can help, but not like this.
