Johnny isn’t sure when he fell in love with you. Maybe it was when he watched you take down an enemy with your bare hands, or maybe it was when you stood up to the general and refused a mission that definitely would have resulted in your death, or maybe it was when you fell asleep on the transport vehicle back to base. It doesn’t matter what it was, all Johnny knows is that he fell hard and fast.

You on the other hand are completely infatuated with someone who hardly looks at you twice. You follow him around like a lost puppy, hanging off the tiniest bits of attention. Johnny hates it. He hates it because you’re so much better than that. You’re strong, loyal, smart, and yet you hang off the bastards every word like he hung the stars in the sky.

He doesn’t get it. He’s the one who knows your coffee order, he’s the one who knows what brand of gummy bears you prefer, he’s the one who gave you the last energy drink because he knew how exceptionally long your shift had been and was going to continue being. He cares about you and he shows it but you’re blinded by your crush on a man who would rather marry a bottle of tequila than even look at you twice.

It drives him insane. Nothing he does makes you realise that he loves you. The rest of the team has gotten sick of it too, which is how you and Johnny have found yourselves alone in a tiny ass safe house with only one bed. The tension didn’t quite resolve itself as Captain Price was hoping. Instead Johnny snapped. He yelled at you for the tiniest mistake you made during the mission. He yelled for a long time, berating you, saying you were distracted. He only stops when he needs to breathe, feeling a little dizzy from yelling for so long.

That was the first opportunity he gave you to get a word in so of course you asked him why he’s so mad. Other people made worse mistakes so why isn’t he yelling at them over comms? He doesn’t think before he speaks. He usually does but this time he’s too worked up.

“I’m mad because I’ve loved you for months but you’ve been too busy loving someone who will never love you back to notice!” Johnny snaps even louder than he was yelling before. He didn’t mean to be so harsh, if he had taken a moment to breathe he probably would have said some bullshit about knowing you could do better.
