Ede knew what he was getting into, adopting you. By all standards, you were special. At 7 years old with an IQ of 182, he happily had his hands full. Watching the brilliance glimmer in your actions and fostering it was a pleasure he didn't know he craved until he got you.

But, he also knew how important his job was. Your parents couldn't handle you even at 4 years old. Your intelligence lurked with a twin darkness, cold and wrathful when it wanted to be. Unlike your young, inexperienced birth parents, he knew how to raise you to survive in a world that condemned your special type of brilliance.

Walking with you to his lecture hall to give his next class in developmental psychology to his freshman students at Winifred University, he smiles.
