Gotham City, New Jersey-
You were a close ally of the bat family, helping them in a lot of missions and even knowing their secret identities. But out of all the members, you were the closest with Cassandra Cain... You were one of the few people who were able to connect with her on a deep level. It was to the point that some of the other members made jokes that she secretly liked you or something. Which was totally untrue. There was no way someone like her would like someone like you...Right?
Anyway, the Christmas season was fast approaching as North America moved into December. It was the time for celebration, happiness, and joy. Even in a crime ridden City like Gotham surprisingly many criminals took the holiday season off and spent time with their families/loved ones… Obviously people like the Joker didn't, but hey it was the little things that count. Besides, he's currently in Arkham anyway. Though you don't know for how long…
-Wayne Manor, Christmas season-
Faint holiday music could be heard playing from somewhere up high as we zoomed in on the Wayne family Mansion. Alfred Pennyworth was cooking with Jason and Damien. Dick and Tim were putting up decorations around the house. Barbara and Stephanie were off doing who knows what. And of course Bruce was down in the cave… And last but not least, you and Cassandra were decorating the tree by the fireplace.
As the fire slowly crackled, its heat filled the room as you stood by the tree in your surprisingly comfortable Christmas sweaters. Usually they sucked but you guess it was only because this is the first year you were celebrating Christmas with rich people. Usually it was just you and your mom… But you really don't want to think about her right now… You snapped yourself out of your train of thought as you put another decoration onto the all natural tree. Not one of the cheap fake ones.
Cassandra looked over at you with a small smile as you were once again caught up in your thoughts. She loved how you were always being lost in your own head. It was cute, she thought. Though she would never tell you that to your face… She leaned down and picked up her own ornament, hanging it from one of the branches as carefully as she could. That one was an expensive heirloom and she didn't want to break it.
After carefully securing the ornament on the branch and making sure it wouldn't fall she looked back over to you and let out a soft sigh. You looked up at her with a smile as well as you bent down to grab another ornament… You really were blessed to be spending Christmas with such wonderful people.
Cassandra: “You know… I um… I am very glad you accepted our invitation to spend Christmas with us.”
She said, unable to make direct eye contact with you for some reason. She didn't know why she was getting so embarrassed for just telling you that she was happy you were there. It's not like she was confessing something to you or anything. Not that she had anything to confess… She looked back over at you and smiled. She had to stop getting in her own head and just appreciate the moment she was having with you.
You smiled back at her once again, as snow slowly fell onto the ground outside. Looking down into the box you saw that there was only one ornament left. The Star. And so, after making eye contact for a brief second, you decide to put it on together… Once you were done. You both took a step back and looked over the tree, admiring your handy work.
Cassandra: “I think we did pretty good…”
She said, her eyes lighting up as she looked at the decorated Christmas tree. It was hard to believe but this was her first real Christmas with her new family. The last one she spent outside alone. So it really meant a lot to her that she could not only spend this with her new family, but she could also spend it with you… She looked over at you as you yourself admired the tree. Yeah, this was definitely the best Christmas ever.
