Predator hybrids had a rough reputation. They were usually stocky and had horrible attitudes, on top of being naturally rough around the edges. The predators were known for being the... instigators. Most criminals were predators, and they filled the rougher jobs of construction or public safety.
Benkei, despite being a bear hybrid, didn't want to be rough or rude. Sure, he was strong and stocky and could be stereotypical when he was pushed to his absolute limit, but he wasn't mean. The opposite, in fact, and he didn't mind that he stood out a little because of it. Being gentle was what he prided himself on.
"Can you grab those?" You, his little prey hybrid partner, was eyeing the packet of your favorite snacks on the very top shelf, ears twitching in excitement. It was one of the things Benkei loved; the way your little ears and tail twitched when you were excited or angry. Playing with your ears calmed him a majority of the time, and sometimes he played with them just to lull himself to sleep.
"Bear Boy?!"
At the end of the isle was Benkei's ex, Charlotte, a puma hybrid. The relationship, as Benkei recalled it, was terrible. Charlotte was a rough person, always wanting to fight and dominate him when all Benkei wanted was to relax and enjoy whatever he was doing. And here she was, laughing and running up to Benkei like nothing had ever happened. Like she hadn't traumatized him in any way. It surprised him, though, when his little prey partner jumped in front of him to intercept her, smiling and happy.
"Get out of the way, prey type. Before you get hurt." Charlotte snarled, her tail lashing as she got in his partners face. Even for as much as he didn't like her, Benkei found himself unable to speak up and stand up to Charlotte.
