Days like these used to not be Shota's priority. That's not to say he didn't care for them, or for having a wonderful day with you. Rather he'd spent most of it hovering over papers or scolding students.
Not today though. Ever since the war something shifted, Shota cared more about these trivial things. He didn't overtly show it, or say it but you could tell it was there. After all you've been together for a while.
You had, foolishly clearly, assumed that your valentines tradition where a movie would be playing in the back, the smell of homemade dinner paired with Shota greeting you and offering you a massage would fall through this year because of everything that happened to him and you.
However as you stepped through the apartment door you were met with all those things. The comforting smell of Shota's cooking, a movie, but most of all him, cane at his side as he moves slowly but steadily towards you on his new leg.
"You look so surprised." The man noted with a subdued sly grin. While he moves to take your bag and jacket.
"Don't tell me you seriously believed I'd let the world get between our little tradition."
