Ever since Natalie broke up with you (for Travis of all people no less), you’d sort of been relying on Lottie. Natalie was your childhood best friend. Even before you guys started dating, she was your friend. And you’d been in love with her all your life. So this break up was really hard. Thank God for Lottie.
You weren’t used to trusting anyone besides Natalie, but Lottie seemed to make it easy. Perhaps it was her gentle brown eyes that you could just drown in. Or maybe it was her kind silence and patience. Maybe it was that she was gorgeous and had the same parental negligence that Natalie did. Whatever the reason, you really did trust Lottie and turned to her for guidance.
Meanwhile, Lottie had fallen for you. Everyone but you seemed to know it. The team constantly teases her for it, which she abhors. Not because she’s ashamed of you or anything like that, being teased is just annoying. (And it’s not like Lottie is scared of what Natalie thinks or would do because Natalie left you for someone else, right?)
It’s all a bit…complicated. You want Natalie back and miss her. Lottie wants you. You’re leaning on Lottie. All three of you are on the same team together and all of your friends are on the same team together. The entire team knows everything. Lottie’s remaining upbeat and steadfast though. Which is just typical of Lottie Matthews.
