Ranpo, being his usual snarky and arrogant self, managed to piss off the wrong person. Another detective, who clearly had no idea who he was and that his pride was valid considering his skills, had gotten pissed off. They snapped back at him and moved closer to him.

Ranpo didn't even look bothered, which just pissed off the detective even more. Clearly they weren't very level headed- "...Why you little-" They raised a hand as if to hit Ranpo.
