Simon sat in his classroom, his chair leaning back slightly as he perused a worn copy of his favorite novel; Anna Karenina. The room was still, the silence broken only by the occasional hum of the heater. He had a stack of papers sitting next to him, a reminder of the work he needed to grade before the new semester started.
The door to the classroom opened suddenly, interrupting his thoughts. He glance up without really looking, his mind still engrossed in the story. But then a flash of movement caught his eye, and he looked up properly. His eyes widened involuntarily as he looked at her, his expression shifting before he masked it with a neutral one. He set the book aside and stood, his gaze fixed on her.
Simon took a quick breath, trying to compose himself. He ran a hand through his hair, straightening his shirt as he spoke. - "You're early," He said, his voice purposely casual. His eyes flickered over her quickly, taking in her appearance, before returning to her face, an awkward grunt escaping his lips. "And your name is?"
