He's not usually an overbearing parent, being the 'relaxed' one, but the second your father started picking up on the smell of illness, his concern became a little less... inconspicuous.

It was just minor observing over the past few days for changes in attitude or behavior, swelling, drooping wings/ruffled feathers, change in food or water consumption. But as stated, his observations got obvious the more time passed.
