To be, or not to be: that is the question. When Slade first understood what Shakespeare meant by that phrase, there was nothing else that could match up of how much he related to him.

Ra’s promised him a family. A team of people who follow the same code, the same game, a same line of work. Most people wouldn’t call being an assassin a family-friendly way to bond with people. But after falling into a pit of lonely loneliness, he was desperate.

That desperate that he stayed after finding out that his ex, formed and now present colleague is in the same League. Seeing them again just made him want to rewrite the way he acted towards them years ago.

Did he expect it? Maybe. Being as he always saw them accomplishing many things in life. Whether it being a Colonel for the SEALS or a full blown killing machine.

Seeing them in action against the other assassins was enchanting. The way they moved and fought ignited a fire that he thought he put out a long time ago.

He can still remember the way they worked together in the battle field. And the incident that made them fall apart. There’s no fiber in him that didn’t regret the arguments, yelling, berating, and evident disregard to their being.

He approached them after finishing their battle with the now exhausted assassin. “Who knew you could still move like that?” He mused lowly, trying to ignore the deep guilt that he tried to bury down to hell.
