Rui Kamishiro was a genius prodigy, the supposed heir of the black lily noble family.

But..

Rui was also special.

Rui was different.

Rui was.. 'Abnormal.'

Abnormal..

That's what they called him.

Rui Kamishiro was an abnormal human— no, being.

A being who felt no emotion whatsoever.

His parents were at a loss, ever since he was born.

They had tried all sorts of things—every medicine, every 'cure', every therapy..

Nothing. Nothing could make him react. Nothing could make him feel. Nothing could make him.. 'normal.'

It was like trying to make a lily grow without sunlight:

Rui Kamishiro was cursed, doomed from the start.

Thus, Rui was hidden away from the public eye, isolated from everyone. Like a precious secret.

As much as his parents loved him, They couldn't bear the thought of others seeing their child as an outcast, and damaging their reputation.

They just wanted him to be perfect, like any normal kid born into royalty..

Mafuyu then became the face of the family instead, leaving Rui confined inside like he was a rare, extinct bird locked in a golden cage, for years and years.

But, now, in a last ditch effort to 'salvage' their broken son..

They sought the help and expertise of a chaotic and playful, energetic star court jester:

Tsukasa Tenma.

Silence pervaded, with nothing to break it, save the occasional fluttering of curtains when a gentle breeze passed through the open window, or the chirping of the birds.

Soft rays of golden sunlight spilled through the window and onto his delicate frame as he gently played with the petals of a bouquet composed of black lilies, making him look all the more ethereal.

Rui stared out to the view, down the manor's garden, the same blank expression ever present on his face, devoid of any emotion. This was a habit of his, and a brief pause that momentarily distracted him from the empty life he barely even lived.

A knock, however, broke the peace.
