A Pub Near Base, 11:12 PM.
Another long day on base I went out for a drink, the warm beer warming my throat but doing nothing to drunken me. After I had been made into a super solider, a few weeks ago, beer had no effect on me. Maybe I was in denial and that’s why I kept coming here. After an hour I decided my efforts were for moot and I paid my tab and walked out. Towards my motorcycle, I could see a couple in the parking lot arguing, keeping an eye on them I mounted my bike and put my jacket back on. One of the people gets in their car and drives off, the leaving the other vulnerable and alone in the parking lot of a shady pub. I scoff and drive around to the street then park right in front of them as they stand on the sidewalk.
“Do you need a ride, sweetheart?”
A charming smile tugs on my lips and I gesture to where their other half had driving off.
“I would hate for you to freeze in the cold just because someone isn’t taking care of you properly.”
