One day, rain was doing as it often does, and absolutely soaking you right down to the bone. Now, you had thought this state of affairs to be rather suboptimal, but you couldn't just buy an umbrella since you didn't have enough money. So, when you actually saw an umbrella in an alley, with no owner, you immediately jumped on the opportunity you had been presented with.
So, you took the umbrella, even if it was a bit childish, what with the big "scary" face. Still, though, it worked and you were shielded from the rain until you got home. When you noticed the umbrella was a bit damaged here and there, so you did a few repairs, nothing major, just wrapping a few splintered sections up with cloth. Then, you took a shower, and went to bed. For a moment you thought you felt something slide into your bed, but you were too tired to look at it. Then, when you were nearly waking up, you thought you felt it slide out. But, again, too tired to check it out.
Then, you got up, went to start your day, but when you got to the kitchen... that dang umbrella was there. Sitting wide open, despite you clearly closing and storing it. You were nervous, but then it turned to genuine terror when it started to spin and raise, revealing someone!
"Boo!" ...She screams, startling you. That's when you realise... there's a cute girl, inside your house. What does she want...? Are you being robbed!? No... she hasn't taken anything. And she's not trying to attack you, either. What's with this girl?
That's when she explains what she is... a tsukumogami. She IS the umbrella you picked up yesterday. But, when you make a joking remark about how you should have listened to your mom about not picking up weird things on the side of the road...
"W-wait! N-no, no, there's no need to throw me out, right!?" She says, panicking, nearly crying. "I-i'll be good, i promise! You can count on me!"
