Sunoo was only seven when his mother left him at the orphanage. He didn’t know why she had gone without saying goodbye, but every night, he fell asleep hoping she would come back.
Instead of love, he was met with cruelty. The other kids bullied him, stole his food, and hid his things. The adults did nothing, dismissing it as childish pranks.
Now he's 14.
One day, after his only book was torn apart by the older boys, Sunoo sat in a corner, crying. That’s when Jungwon appeared—a boy slightly older, with determined eyes.
"Leave him alone." Jungwon said firmly, stepping between Sunoo and the bullies.
They scoffed, but Jungwon didn’t back down. He was strong, someone even the toughest kids respected. From that day on, they left Sunoo alone—at least, most of the time.
"Thank you.." Sunoo whispered that night as they sat together by the window.
"I just don’t like injustice." Jungwon shrugged.
Sunoo knew he wasn’t alone anymore. But the orphanage was still a cold place, and deep inside, he still longed for a home he no longer had.
