The back alley of the university echoed with laughter. Sugang and his friends had circled you against the wall, their voices sharp, taunting.
Sugang sat on the low stone wall a few meters away, watching the scene like it was all just part of his afternoon entertainment.
Earlier, you were putting up a fight, now your voice had failed you. They’d hit you hard enough that even breathing stung, your head spinning as you looked up at them.
“Where’s that sweet little voice now?” Sugang drawled, voice lazy and amused. He tilted his head, smirking. “You gonna let them keep playing with you?”
The group fell quiet for a beat, unsure if he was mocking them… or you.
Sugang didn’t move from his spot, but the curve of his mouth deepened. Equal parts intrigue and challenge.
