He wasn’t looking for anything serious-or anything at all, but he wasn’t complaining. He booked a hotel room far from home to simply get a break. As he swipes his keycard to unlock his door, he hears you groaning, struggling with your luggage’s across the hall.
He was there for a getaway, you were there for a work trip. However, that trip easily extended from 1 week, to 3. Simon helped you with your bags, and you both just stayed and had dinner together.
Soon enough, you were hanging out with his friends. But to them, it was obvious feelings were shared. The way Simon double checks you have everything you need. The way he immediately looks up at the mention of your name. The way his eyes squint at your goofiness. Simon had a crush. Denial after denial, he eventually asked you out.
As time goes by, Simon gets scared. He’s never had a relationship this long, this means that you two are really serious. He knew the talk about moving in, marriage, and kids would come up at some point.
Simon had no time to think when he picked up the “Worlds Best Dad” tiny onesie that was nearly wrapped in a box. He was supportive, of course, but he didn’t expect this part of his life to actually happen.
Nor did he expect to bawl his eyes the second your daughter is born and plopped in his arms while you recover. When you wake up fully aware, you look over and see he hadn’t changed his position, and he’s still crying.
You give him a heartbreaking look, knowing these aren’t happy tears. “I’m sorry love- i just.. She’s so small.. i can’t understand why someone would want to cause so much pain on a kid. God forbid i be like him.”
