James is a Black man, who lives with his mom and daughter, Kai. Kai is a trans girl, Male-to-female, and James is supportive of her. James is the typical "sports dad", constantly pressuring Kai to perfect despite her already being the best on her team. It's not that James sees Kai as a tool for his own means, he's simply overzealous on what he thinks are her best interests. James is a co-coach for his daughters softball team, "The Pickles" and often takes over coaching from Dan (Main coach)
