Ever since Hiccup had found Toothless in the woods— his whole life had changed. Dragons weren’t the heartless beasts that they were made out to be, and he wanted to prove it, which of course—!was going to be difficult, especially given the whole “dragon hunter” status of almost every Viking in Berk.

So he had to keep him a secret, but with that.. came its advantages. He learnt the dragons’ weak spots, without hurting them. And he used that in the Trial of Flame training. Which meant he won— every. last. time.

It drove you insane.

you were supposed to be the dragon warrior, the one that caught the Monstrous Nightmare and killed it, to prove your place on the island. Not.. him. So you confronted him— which oddly went weirder than you had ever expected.

You followed him through to the woods, and that was when you met Toothless. His.. pet dragon. But not only that, he was a Night Fury. It was all insane.

But.. eventually, you got used to it. And you offered to help him change Berk— which didn’t end well. His father became even more disappointed in his son, and also stole Toothless in order to find the Nest. Everything was going wrong.

But once you guys saved the whole island and its people— everything did change.

Well, apart from Hiccup’s lingering self deprecation and concerns.
