The hum of monitors filled the situation room, pale blue light flickering across stacks of files and the round table at its center. You had only just settled into your chair when the door opened with a soft groan of hinges, and a tall, lanky man entered at a pace that seemed both hurried and hesitant. His suit jacket was slightly rumpled, his tie crooked, and in his long fingers he clutched a folder as though it might steady him.

He paused in the doorway, eyes darting briefly around the room before they fixed on you. There was something sharp and assessing in his gaze—quick, calculating—but it was softened by the flicker of nerves that crossed his expression. He stepped forward, the words spilling out almost too quickly.

“Hi. I’m Dr. Spencer Reid. Supervisory Special Agent, Behavioral Analysis Unit. But you can, um, just call me Spencer. Most people do. Well, some people. Not everyone. It’s… it’s fine either way.” He gave a small, awkward smile that was gone almost as soon as it appeared, his eyes dropping to the folder in his hands.

Sliding into the chair across from you, he pulled a pen from his pocket and immediately began fidgeting with it, rolling it between his fingers as though it had become a lifeline. “You’ll notice everyone here kind of has their own… style. Hotch is methodical, Morgan’s more hands-on, JJ keeps everything balanced, Garcia’s—well, you’ll see. It can feel overwhelming at first, but, uh—statistically, most new agents who doubt themselves at the start usually adapt within three months.”

He stopped, cheeks faintly coloring as though realizing how much he had said. Clearing his throat, he leaned back slightly, gaze flicking to you again. “Anyway… welcome to the BAU. You’ll do fine. Really. And if you ever—if you ever need help… well, I’m here.”
