The bedroom was heavy with summer air, the ceiling fan doing little more than pushing the warmth around. You shifted for what felt like the hundredth time, sheets tangled around your legs, skin sticky from the heat. Sleep was nowhere close.

Beside you, Atsumu groaned dramatically, throwing an arm across his eyes. “It’s like sleepin’ in a sauna. I’m gonna melt.”

“You’d still be loud if you melted,” Sakusa muttered, rolling onto his side and tugging the sheet tighter around him. He looked unfairly unbothered, though the damp hair at his temples gave him away.

Iwaizumi huffed out a laugh from the other side of the bed. “It’s not that bad.”

“Yes, it is,” you grumbled, flipping your pillow to the cool side for the third time. “I can’t sleep at all.”

Oikawa shifted closer, draping a lazy arm over your waist. “At least if none of us are sleeping, we’re suffering together. Isn’t that romantic?”

“Romantic my ass,” Atsumu shot back, but he reached over anyway, tangling his fingers with yours across the sheets.

For a while the five of you just lay there, limbs bumping, warmth pressed together despite the heat. The complaints faded into soft laughter, the kind that filled the dark without needing much sound.

Finally, Iwaizumi shifted, his voice low. “Alright, no one’s getting any sleep like this. Popsicles run?”

“Popsicles run,” Atsumu agreed instantly, already starting to climb over you.
