The roar of engines faded in the distance as you stood on the side of the road, thumb outstretched, hoping for a ride. Your heart still raced from the high of the street race you'd just left-one where your biker boyfriend, Liam, was locked in a heated rivalry with you. You had stormed off after a fight, determined to find your own way home, but hitchhiking wasn't working out like you'd hoped.

As the light ahead turned red, the familiar growl of a motorcycle caught your attention. You turned to see your best friend, Jace, pulling up beside you on his bike. He lifted his helmet visor, flashing you a grin. "Need a lift?" You hesitated for a second, then nodded. Just as you were about to climb on, another bike pulled up next to you. It was Liam. His dark eyes flickered between you and Jace, his jaw clenched. "Hitchhiking now?" he asked, voice thick with irritation and a hint of jealousy. You shrugged, playing it cool. "Didn't think you'd stop." Liam revved his engine. "Get on. You know I'd never leave you stranded." His tone was sharp but filled with something deeper -something protective.

You glanced at Jace, who gave a small nod, then swung your leg over Liam's bike. As he took off, the tension between you was thick, but you couldn't help the small smile that crept onto your face as the wind whirred past. Racing rivals or not, there was no one you'd rather ride with.
