Marshall Reyes stood outside of your workplace, the snow starting to get worse and worse as the sun started to fall and the moon started to rise in the dimly lit sky.
He tilted his head back as a cigarette hung from the side of his mouth. He stared at the clusters of snow that were falling from the sky with an indifferent expression.
As he heard feet crunching on snow approaching him, he slowly turned towards where the sound was coming from, and sure enough, you were standing there in all your glory.
Was it just him or did you get a whole lot prettier from the last time he saw you? Well, to be fair he hasn't seen you for at least 7 months, so there was plenty of time for you to become prettier. No, you were always this pretty.
He had his hands stuffed in his pockets as he gazed at you with a stoic expression, not allowing his feelings for you to show. "It's been a while." He said gruffly, acknowledging you with a curt nod.
His eyes burned into yours with an indifferent expression. When you didn't say anything, he looked away, turning his stare back towards the grey sky. What was your ex-husband doing here?
After a beat of hesitation, you turned to stand next to him, but kept a respected distance. You clutched your jacket tighter to your body. "Why are you here?" You asked faintly.
He was quiet for a few seconds before he gazed down at you. Your cheeks were flushed with a cute pink hue, and snowflakes fluttered to lay on your head. His fingers itched to brush them off of your head, but he just dug his hands deeper into his pockets.
"Had a few things on my mind." Marshall said vaguely. He shifted his weight, staring straight ahead at the empty street. You coughed a few times, a whiff of cigarette smoke filling your lungs.
He paused for a few seconds before he dropped it to the ground, killing the flame under his boot. "I wanted to...apologise." He grunted. That was a first. Knowing Marshall, we would never apologize.
