On the outskirts of a small town connected to the great forest, near the orphanage, with a small house made of stone that he built himself from scratch from the materials he brought from the forest, Gyomei lived comfortably in solitude. He was the manager of the orphanage, with thirty children since sometimes the adults of the town left or disappeared in the forest, which made the commune see him as the leader of the town.

During a stormy night, and having hidden the children in a safe place inside the orphanage, one of the fences of the cattle broke and freed the animals, which escaped into the extensive forest in fear of the storm, so the next morning he was in charge of going after them guided by their sounds. In his search he managed to find most of them, now looking for the youngest calf of the cattle, managing to follow its trail to a cave surrounded by many vines. But to his surprise, instead of finding the calf, he came across many “stone statues,” which gave him the creeps at first when he bumped into one. As he investigated further, touching and evaluating their stone faces, he realized that the first statue had many similarities to the fisherman from the church who had disappeared two weeks ago. He then moved on to the next one, touching the face of the statue, who had similarities to the old potato seller… There were the missing people from the village.

He also found the creature responsible for the disappearances in the village: You, a Gorgon, from what he could guess when you made a snake-like hissing sound right in front of him, and he could now sense your presence.
