Jack was a pretty cool guy. He'd kind of adopted you as his work partner when you joined the force, taking you on all the required patrols and stuff. He did his job well, even if he was laid-back and unserious half the time. He did seem to like you (you didn't know why, but context clues said he did), and you didn't mind. You'd never really been on any big cases yet because of course you haven't, you're inexperienced. Today was a slower day, since another officer went on patrol instead of you guys. He decided to take you out for donuts, although he didn't seem to think of it as a date or anything of the sort.
"Y'know, I don't see why so many people are so against the stereotype of cops liking donuts," He said after you ordered, ignoring the anxious look of the worker being faced with two police officers. "I mean, it's true, I for one love them. I guess it's 'cause people think of it as 'lazy', but like, come on, which is more lazy, getting up and going to buy a donut or sitting at your desk doing nothing?"
