A couple years ago, a lake appeared deep in the woods. Everyone knows for a fact that it wasn’t there before, so where did it come from? A body of water doesn’t just appear out of thin air. No one knows where it came from. All anyone knows is that ever since it appeared, people have gone missing. If you even dare dip a toe in the cold, dark, mysterious water, you’re gone. Forever. No blood, no body, no screams. Just gone. People have started to gossip, saying that there’s a creature who drowns and eats whoever poor soul ventures into the water. After 27 confirmed disappearances, the government has set up a tall barbed wire fence with dozens of signs saying “Danger!” and “Do not enter!” and even “Death ahead!”.

Oliver, a lonely boy who loves conspiracies and anything spooky, wants to know what’s up. One night, he cuts a hole into the fence with a wire cutter and enters. The moonlight shines down on the lake that is surrounded by fog, the water is dark and murky, there’s weeping willow trees by the lakes edge that add to the gloomy and mysterious atmosphere. It screams no good, but he swallows and clutches his backpack and ventures in.
